Designed, manufactured and validated the modular clamp system.
The ARCHIMEDES test stand represents a breakthrough in rapid-iteration rocket propulsion research, featuring an innovative modular combustion chamber attachment system that enables engineers to swap engine designs in minutes rather than hours, fundamentally accelerating the design-test-refine cycle. Built by a multidisciplinary team of mechanical and electrical engineers, the test stand accommodates engines ranging from 5 to 12 inches in diameter and withstands sustained thrust loads up to 200 pounds, with a robust chevron-plate clamping system that provides repeatable, precision mounting without the need for welding or extensive assembly. This modularity, combined with sophisticated dynamic control architecture featuring wireless remote ignition, real-time dual-redundant thrust and pressure measurement, and precision fuel and oxidizer mass flow rate monitoring, transforms the test stand into a true rapid-prototyping platform where rocket designers can test multiple engine configurations in a single day. Engineered to military aerospace standards (MIL-STD-882E, AS9100), the system delivers high-fidelity data acquisition at 1000 Hz for transient analysis while maintaining fail-safe operation, enabling meaningful propulsion research and design optimization at a fraction of traditional development timescales and costs.
